Golfing. Often lately, I wonder why I bother. The game certainly doesn't have the hold on me, it did a few years ago. For the first time in almost a year, I played last Thursday. I went to Twin Lakes and played Men's Night with the boys. Started out nicely and was chugging along fine at two over, till I got to the 7th hole (par 4). I was on in two and four putted. It was all downhill from there. My rhythm and tempo deserted me and I ended up shooting 93. Mind you, no excuse but we didn't tee off till 15:30 so we finished the last two holes well after sunset. It doesn't help when you can't see the hole and aren't the best putter anyway. When we got to the 13th hole, it was if a Mosquito bell went off and out they all came. Three days later and I'm still scratching my legs. The itching has almost driven me nuts these last two nights. Two nights in a row, I've had to get up and ice the bites around my ankles.

Shi-ites! When I lived in Yellowknife the bugs were a hundred times worse than they'll ever be here. I would get bitten all summer, all over. The thing is, those bites would itch for ten minutes, I'd give 'em a scratch and forget about them. Not down here, the itching lasts for days. What's up wid dat?

After the game we went into the club house to have a beer, supper and tally up the scores. Lo and behold, our twosome owed the other twosome, twenty bucks. That's what happens when one gets paired with a 34 handicapper and you play against a 2 and a 16. Lambs to the slaughter!

Having said all that, it was the nicest day of the year so far. Perfect for golfing, 24°C, sunny and a light breeze. Got home at 10 PM.

Spring has arrived, the local fruit trees are starting to blossom, my bird feeders are busy as ever and the Hummimgbirds are paying regular and frequent visits to their feeder. It will be another warm, spring day today. I've even had to put water on my lawn already.

Might go for a drive in the mountains or a round of golf with M, later. But first, bacon and eggs. Mmmm, my favorite.
